hi Jen

I was very lucky to have inherited a used "The Ice Cream Man, Il Gelataio 1600." I think it's decades old, but it is in good condition and has gotten much use since I inherited it a few months ago. I LOVE it, since the barrel does not need hours of freezing. I can just plug it in, and it starts churning and freezing! It takes less than 15 minutes to churn out a good batch. One negative is that the barrel is not detachable, so cleaning is a bit tedious. I suspect that their newer models improved this part of the design. I made scuppernong sorbet with the Ice Cream Man! : )
