Recipe: rice with mushrooms, cuttlefish, and artichokes

I’m here, but I’m not really here – in all likelihood I’m someplace up in the Rocky Mountains as you read this. But that doesn’t keep me from posting a Daring Cooks challenge because the challenge MUST BE MET (thanks to cron jobs).

daring cooks – ha cha!

Let’s get down to the nitty gritty here, shall we?
Our most revered and badass founders: Lis of La Mia Cucina and Ivonne of Cream Puffs in Venice.
Our beautiful host this month: Olga of Olga’s Recipes.
The challenge: a delicious Spanish recipe, Rice with mushrooms, cuttlefish and artichokes by José Andrés.

The recipe is not paella, but it is similar to paella according to Olga. Either way, it is filled with a fantastic combination of fresh ingredients that are cooked into a hearty dish of traditional Spanish flavors. This post is going to be heavy on pictures and short on words… you’re welcome.

Recipe: beef and barley soup

There has been a steady influx of messages since Tuesday afternoon alerting me that urb was ranked in the Times of London’s 50 of the world’s best food blogs. You’ll have to flip to page 4, because I’m #39…

*blink blink*

GET OUT! I am floored. I don’t think I’ve ever been ranked #anything in the world. What’s even better is that I am in the company of many of my favorite food blogs. This is quite the honor. I was speechless for all of two minutes!

So there is this rather long meme about marriage that Heather recently wrote up, and while I don’t know the woman (nor she me) I thought the questions would be fun to answer and perhaps a little informative – for me as well. Oh, and I tag every damn (in the good way, remember) one of you with a blog. Let’s get on it… there’s a recipe waiting.

it’s okay to be crabby

Recipe: crab mac and cheese

Are you feeling crabby this Valentine’s Day? If so, I’ve got just the dish for you. But I ask you to be patient because I have a winner to announce for the Kyocera ceramic knife drawing (and some other musings)! People like to use the site random.org for their random drawings, but I have something beyond random – we call it mindless and ridiculous.

In consultation with my resident astrophysicist, someone well-versed in statistics, we agreed to place a treat inside Kaweah’s Kong toy and hide it in the yard. Jeremy would time how long it took for Kaweah to find the Kong in 100ths of a second.
