something chocolaty

Thursday, January 12th, 2006

We were a pathetic bunch of sots this afternoon at work. We were all feeling tired. We were all feeling hungry. Jeff came by and offered us caffeinated mints which didn’t do much but give us tired fresh breath. I worked out which totally woke me up for the duration of the workout, but I felt tired again when I got back to my desk.

“I’m going to make something chocolaty to bring into work tomorrow!” I announced to my cube farm.
“Mmmmm, chocolaty…” was the response from over the wall.

I got excited thinking about baking something chocolaty because I like working with chocolate. But wait, I have ingredients for key lime cheesecake in my fridge as well. A miscalculation on my part with far too many dinners to keep track of left me with an extra dessert.

“Key lime cheesecake or brownies?!” I shouted.
“I like cheesecake.”
“Brownies are easier to share with several people.”
“Chocolate!!!!”
“Please stop talking about this, you are killing me.”

baby puppy is seven

Wednesday, December 14th, 2005

Okay, NOW Kaweah is really seven years old! [Last year we told everyone she was seven and then Carrie emailed me and said Kaweah couldn’t be seven because Hailey is older than Kaweah – and then we all determined that I am a dipshit.] Today is her birthday!! When we got up this morning, she was running around shaking the plush elliptical focal mechanism toy in her mouth and parading about the house. I guess she does that every morning, but I convinced myself that she somehow knew it was her birthday (prolly not). For dessert tonight, she was given her favorite ice cream in the world – ANY ice cream!

she knows it is for her when we hold it 2 feet above the ground

times when i hate myself

Tuesday, December 13th, 2005

We found out today that yesterday was our super’s birthday. She told us. So we felt sort of obligated to do something for her, but what? We couldn’t take her to lunch because she’s in meetings all day tomorrow and will be gone the rest of the week on vacation.  I offered to bring a cake to share with office folk and make truffles for the super.  Next time, please remind me to shut up.
