Today I got a package from Down Under – from Kell!! She told me she wanted to send some black vinegar (I didn’t know of it, but then when I showed it to Mary – my Chinese co-worker, she was like, “yeah – don’t you know black vinegar?”). However, I wasn’t expecting the cute sample tube of sunblock or the PACKAGE OF TIM TAMS! Our love affair with Tim Tams dates back to our trips to New Zealand. I’ll admit that I love Chit Chats more, but Tim Tams and Chit Chats are both Happy Foods (still relishing memory of Laura’s chili chocolate Tim Tams – mmmmmmmm). International care packages are so fun! But what, if anything, is good from the US? Will have to ponder that one.
goodies from oz – thanks kell!!

I like to drink a mixture of iced tea and fruit juice. I know that half iced tea and half lemonade is an Arnold Palmer, but what do you call the tea/juice concoction? I decided to name it The Politzer, after my Phys 2b prof, Dave Politzer. What a character. He taught us quantum. He also played the banjo and sang a song about Einstein for our class. He also got so pissed off at our class one time that he slammed his hands down on the lecture counter and yelled, “Shut the fuck up you assholes!” This guy recently won the Nobel Prize in physics. Jeremy took Phys 3 lab and Phys 76 from Politzer. Jeremy says, “Great lab instructor, couldn’t help me for squat in 76.” Ah well, here’s to you Politzer. I still want to name a cat after Frautschi, prof of theoretical particle physics at Caltech and a total sweetie.
after our hike, i was so moved to make brunch: hashies, bacon, and french toast

I picked up a few pounds of king crab legs this evening during our grocery trip. I’ve had crab on the brain since we were in Ouray perusing various restaurant menus. I wasn’t about to order crab in Ouray. Although I’m sure most would wonder why the hell I bought king crab in Boulder… Well, I did it. And it was friggin’ awesome!
king crab legs – these are practically big enough to be children’s limbs
