playing in big kitchens

We had our company shindig today and there was soooo much food. An 18-pound turkey, a 21-pound turkey, and a big ass ham. I spent a good deal of time in the industrial kitchen helping Jaime prepare, then serve, then clean up. We gossiped about various work things and wow! I got THE SCOOP.

turkey for me, turkey for you, let’s eat turkey in a big brown shoe…

it’s the way of the engineer – heaps of satay on the new barbie

I called dibs on one of the turkey carcasses, and I had wanted the ham bone too if no one else did. You could tell from the reactions of the various people in the kitchen who cooks and who COOKS. Why a ham bone? Oh… but what about 16 bean soup, split pea soup, or navy bean soup to name a few? The turkey is becoming delicious turkey broth as I type and I was able to get over a pound of turkey meat off it. I hate to waste food and I hate wasting an animal. Someone else got the ham bone, so that’s alright with me – as long as it gets used.
