oatmeal without a spoon

Friday, July 8th, 2005

Let’s see here. I brought oatmeal for brekkie and I find that I’ve thoroughly emptied all of my crap from my desk so that I am eating my oatmeal with my fingers. At least my hands are clean…

It’s my last day at work – yay!
I’m feeling much better about leaving now because I got some news recently that sets my mind at ease. I had worried about leaving things in such a state as to make life very difficult for someone else here. However, that person has found an opportunity which frees them from these problems – and we are both very happy about that.

Our sellers are the coolest people ever. I wish every person could be so reasonable and have a sense of humor.

The packing and especially the cleaning has been freaking poor Kaweah out. When Jeremy shut off the vacuum last night she came out from her hiding spot and wagged at him. But then he had to resume vacuuming and she got sad again. Not much longer pup.

love leftovers

Sunday, July 3rd, 2005

One of my favorite things to eat is leftovers. What could say summer more than a grilled salad? A grilled salad? Yes! Organic baby greens topped with feta, sliced steak, grilled eggplant, grilled mushrooms, grilled zucchini, pine nuts, and yogurt-tahini sauce.

In my second burst of energy, I made enormous headway packing the kitchen. Now we are really down to essentials. We’re basically grilling the rest of our meals and then dining out with friends at our favorite dives until we leave. I managed to polish off a lot of condiments and liquid ingredients too. Chicken teriyaki: minced ginger root, minced green onion, minced garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, honey, chicken breasts, ziploc. Flank steak marinade: soy sauce, garlic, vinegar, mustard, fresh minced parsley, pepper, worcestershire sauce, oil, flank steak, ziploc.

what’s important

Friday, July 1st, 2005

I think today was a complete bust for me. I haven’t slept this much in years, but I was pretty dysfunctional otherwise. My legs were weak and my head was spinning all day. Jeremy was home, then he wasn’t, then he was packing, then he was washing dishes… such a great dude. I was awake long enough for the important things – like dinner. Time to grill some eggplant:

and then we toast it with the goodness of the week – focaccia rolls, tomato, pesto, feta, and provolone.
