I can’t look at a computer screen anymore tonight.
I know I work on a computer all day, and in my spare time I do a lot of crap on the computer… but this is a whole new world of eyeball and brain strain. The back and forth from monitor to papers with teensy tiny print can make one insane.
I did take a break to make some Chinese food for dinner. I think my stomach is nearing normal, although I am still cautious about how much I eat so as not to tempt fate. I also went easy on the spicy in the tofu, which made me sad because I hate bland food, but it really wasn’t so bad.
pork and soybeans, asparagus, ma pu tofu, rice

I love tofu. My family makes AMAZING stuff with tofu. People have no idea how versatile it is. I mean, sure, you have your tofu dogs and tofutti, but I’m talking about dried, fried, marinated, fresh, skin, soup, sheets.

I am going nuts. I think my pattern is that I can work on my thesis steadily for 4 days straight and maintain a good level of productivity, but after that things go downhill unless I take a break – as in goto work at my real job. I may discuss with my boss and prez the possibility of working part-time in August as well. And I guess this is important enough that if it’s not okay, I’ll just quit. Wow, what a great feeling that would be.
Good lord, I need to work out.
Decompression activity last night was to roast a chicken. It’s easy to do and muy rewarding. Takes no more than 15 minutes of prep and then you roast for an hour and voilà!

The heat makes me not want to eat. But when the sun finally drops behind the divide, the house begins to cool, and I start to feel peckish. Dinner last night was a welcome relief from working on the thesis, the heat, and general malaise.
fresh ingredients make up for the lack of variety

it’s cool enough to roast potatoes in the evening
